The Waterford footballer's will commence their Allianz NFL Division 4 campaign this weekend.

Ephie Fitzgerald's side will make the lengthy journey to Carrick on Shannon on Sunday afternoon next for the opening round clash against Leitrim.

The Déise blooded a lot of new and younger players in the McGrath Cup pre-season competition which result in defeats against Limerick and Tipperary.

Waterford will be captained this year by The Nire's Dermot Ryan who is now one of the most seasoned campaigners in the Déise line-up, he's a player who always give 100% and he will once again be a key leader in this latest campaign.

It's well documented how ferocious and tight Division 4 football can be and 2023 promises to be no different with Laois and Wicklow coming down following their relegation last season.
