Waterford have reached the All Ireland camogie quarter finals for the second year in a row. Goals either side of half time by Beth Carton and Sarah Lacey gave the Déise a 2-10 to 0-12 win over Clare at a sun drenched Walsh Park yesterday.
All Star Carton scored 1-6 while Lacey finished with 1-2. An injury time point from substitute Fiona Morrissey sealed victory.
Carton was delighted to make it back to the business end of the championship. "We're thrilled. At the start of the year, it was our aim. You take each game as it comes but our overall aim was to get back to the knockout stages where you're still hurling in August."
She believes that Lacey has been a big addition to the attack this season. "She's a serious player; I think she's only eighteen. One for the future and definitely for now as well!"
