Injury time points from Tom Gallagher and Mikey Cummins gave De La Salle College a 2-11 to 1-12 win over St Flannans in the opening round of the Harty Cup at Boherlahan this afternoon.
Two Gavin Corbett goals left them 2-4 to 0-7 in front at half time. A freak goal by Darren O'Brien four minutes into the second period helped Flannans into a two point advantage. The sides were level on five occasions before Gallagher landed a long range free on 62 minutes. Substitute Mikey Cummins wrapped up a valuable win for the Waterford school.
Manager Dermot Dooley admitted that they won ugly but was delighted to pick up the two points.
