Day Four of the Galway races gets underway today - albeit behind closed doors. The Galway Festival draws punters from within racing circles and further afield every year but this year is very different with an eery silence descending on Ballybrit - Empty stands in Galway are bit like fish without chips.
De Bromhead has a fine recent record in the Galway Plate with two wins in the last five years but yesterday wasn't his day as Mark Walsh romped home on the Joseph O Brien trained Early Doors - after a perfectly timed late run capture the big prize.
The Galway Hurdle is the feature race on day four of the Races.
De Bromhead saddles three runners in the contest. Petit Mouchoir the mount of Hugh Morgan and Due Reward with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle while Bryan Cooper has a rare ride for the Butlerstown trainer on board Moon Over Germany.
Today's eight race card gets underway at 4.45 while the big race of the evening at Ballybrit goes to post at 6.45.
