Waterford's Robin Dawson fired a sensational 63 in round three of the Carrick Neill Scottish Men's Open Championship.

The Tramore golfer was in danger of missing yesterday's cut after finishing on two over par, however he progressed to the final 36 holes with one shot to spare.

Dawson began this morning with a bogey on his second hole to slip back to three over. The 22 year old responded with birdies on the 6th and 9th before shooting six birdies during his back nine.

It leaves him on 5 under par and in a tie for second place. He's two shots off the lead held by Victor Veyret of France, who is still out on course during his third round.
