Tom Barron landed a last minute winner as the Waterford under 20 footballers surprised Clare 1-10 to 1-9 at Fraher Field last night.
Man of the match Darragh Corcoran scored 1-7 (1-3 from play) to deliver a first provincial victory since 2006. In a dramatic finish, Clare full forward Diarmuid O'Donnell missed a late, late free before the home side celebrated a famous result.
Waterford will now travel to Clonakility for a semi final meeting with Cork on Thursday week.
Déise coach Gary Hurney said that it was a night to remember. "Results like this in the championship don't come around too often. You have to cherish these moments."
