Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt says their performance in Saturday's record loss to England was "unacceptable" and "beneath" where they need to be ahead of the World Cup.

Prop Cian Healy is "bullish" about his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in that 57-15 defeat at Twickenham but he'll sit out this Saturday's match against Wales.

Schmidt says Johnny Sexton is keen to be involved in Cardiff but he won't be risked unless 100% fit.

Keith Earls has a knee tendonitis injury and won't play this weekend.

Conor Murray trained fully this morning after suffering a knock to his head last Saturday.

Joe Schmidt says there's been no internal chatter about the position of captain Rory Best, although he claims no spot is safe in the side.

"There are guys who are going to get an opportunity this weekend and if they perform better than any other player who played last weekend then there is always a contest and you have got to keep that contest live.

"We have seen that in other teams.

"We saw an All Black team that was beaten 47-26 come out and win 36-0 with a number of changes, where established players were left out and new, fresh players came in and put them under pressure.

"So players will be conscious of that."
