The Waterford County Board held its June meeting last night in Dungarvan.

County board chairman Paddy Joe Ryan told the meeting that he saw no signs of unrest in the Waterford hurling camp during the Munster championship.

"I didn't see any unrest in the camp.

"I was at all the matches, I was there pre-match, after match, I certainly didn't see any unrest.

"If we were to believe all the rumours we heard on the street about this, that and the other. It's unreal.

"It's very disappointing that people see fit to go on social media and condemn and actually try ridicule people who are giving their livelihood to this association for zilch."

He felt that criticism of players, management and county board on social media was over the top.

"When people look for the County Board to resign.

"The County Board is what we had here tonight, 60 or 70 members, that's the County Board.

"I'm not the County Board, the officers aren't the county board.

"The County Board makes all the decisions, they either accept or reject our recommendations.

"Sometimes they accept them and sometimes they reject them and rightly so and we have no problem with that. This is what democracy is about.

"It's very, very disappointing for people who have families and to be listening to this day in, day out, people who are giving their life and soul on a voluntary basis."

Paddy Joe Ryan says that the board will sit down with players and management in the coming weeks to review 2019.

"We have the first round of championship starting the weekend after next so they're back with their clubs now, the players.

"We'll sit down in a methodical way and when we think the time is fit.

"But, if any player makes a request to me or if any management makes a request to me tomorrow to sit down with them, I'll certainly sit down with them.

"I've always made myself available to the players and management teams in all grades."
