For the third time in as many years, De La Salle and Gailtír will contest the Waterford senior camogie final.
The 2023 edition however will see a reversal of roles with long-time champions Gailtír boxing out of the blue corner for the first time in five years.
The Barony girls were dethroned last time around, with Salle clearing the final hurdle for the first time in the club's history, beating the defending champions by 2 points in a game for the ages at the SETU Arena.
County star, All-Star, and 2022 Granville Hotel & WLRFM GAA Award winner Beth Carton shot her near pre-determined 7 points in that final, with Waterford colleague Keeley Corbett Barry nailing a point - which if you squinted could have been confused with Ciarán Carey's epic for Limerick in '96. While then-16-year-old Maggie Gostl raised the roof of the stand when forcing the umpire to raise a green flag in the second half.
The result sent former Waterford hurler John Mullane wild on the sideline as he galloped and jumped in celebration of the clubs historic win.
On their way to this year's decider, Salle shot the lights out against St. Anne's in the semi-final, nailing 3.13 to 1.10 with Carton providing 1.09 of that tally. She's expecting another close affair on Saturday when the two market leaders face off for their rematch.
"Ah look, we fairly know each other at this stage. They're always phenomenal games and we know the effort it took to get over the line last year. We've been on plenty of losing ends of them as well. We'll be focussing on ourselves over the next while and hopefully, it will be a good game. We're looking forward to a big battle now," Carton told WLR Sport.
