Brian Murphy has been officially named as the new Waterford FC captain.
The Club launched the new Waterford FC 24-7 Cardiac Care jersey last night.
Brian says it's an honour to captain the side.
"Alan said it to me when he was trying to get me to come back, I was over and back whether I would come home or whether I would stick it out in the UK
"I've had a good run, I've been away for 20 years."
"I'm not getting any younger and I think it's nice to get home while I'm able to still play for a few years, set up base here.
"I'm looking forward to that and not having to move every couple of years when your contract is up."
Brian Murphy added, "It wasn't something I would have put my name forward for, I try to set an example in different ways but, I'm the oldest, the rest of the group is in their early 20s and maybe [I can provide] a bit of guidance.
"There might be different captains on the pitch at times, I think we need 20 captains to lead the team because it's up to the group to claim responsibility for their own actions on the pitch and I think the more voices, the more leaders we have on the pitch, the better it will be going forward."
