Three Waterford FC players as well as the head coach have been named in the Premier Division team of the week.

Attacker Connor Parsons - who scored in Friday night's win over Sligo Rovers - midfielder Ben McCormack and defender Grant Horton make the selection equaling the tally for League leaders Shel who boast Will Jarvis, Waterford native Paddy Barrett and Sean Gannon in their trio.

This comes after the Blues 4-1 at home to Sligo Rovers on Friday night, with Keith Long named as manager of the week for his work on the sideline.

Waterford were 4-1 winners on Friday night, keeping them in fourth place in the standings ahead of the visit of Shels on Thursday night.

Damien Duff's table toppers also won on Friday and now have won five of their last ten, drawing four and losing one.

The Blues meanwhile are in a rich vein of form, winning their last four home games consecutively, with six wins in their last ten games. While the Blues have been strong at home, Shels have not travelled all that well. Ten away games have seen them fail to win on five occasions.

When the sides last met at Tolka Park, it was a 1-0 nil for the home team, while in the opening game of the season at the RSC it ended all square at 1-1.
