Blues hit Kerry for six in historic meeting in Tralee

Keith Long kept faith with the side that hit Treaty for 7 on Friday night and they repaid that faith with another controlled professional performance .

From the first whistle they tried to break down the Kerry offside trap but the slick Astro surface caused some overhit balls.

However, it worked on 36 minutes when Roland Idowu got behind the defence and when Aaron O Sullivan raced out to kick it clear the goalkeeper misjudged his kick and Idowu had the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net.

Ronan Coughlan doubled the lead on the stroke of half time when a long ball found Shane Griffin and his square ball gave Coughlan plenty of time to find the net.

Coughlan netted the third on 57 minutes when he was fed by Chris Conn Clarke and he secured his hat trick less than 10 minutes later when he latched onto a through ball from Baggley and fired past O Sullivan for his 21st goal of the season.

Coughlan scored his fourth of the game from the penalty spot after Thomas Oluwa was fouled by Robert Vasiu four minutes from time and there was still time for a sixth when Coughlan turned provider for Barry Baggley who gave O Sullivan no chance with a fine shot.
