Waterford FC make the journey to Tallaght Stadium this evening to face SSE Airtricity League Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers.
The Blues last outing saw them come away with a 2-0 win over Bohemians in Dalymount Park, thanks to goals from Ali Coote and Tyreke Wilson.
Sam Bone will miss the game due to a hamstring injury and the team remains without a manager after the sudden departure of John Sheridan just over a week ago.
Waterford FC are currently fourth place in the League with 17 points, level with Dundalk, with Sligo Rovers in fifth place.
Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Monday’s match against Shamrock Rovers, first-team coach Fran Rockett said:
“The lads know how big a fixture this is. We’ve worked hard in training and prepared ourselves for a tough, physical game, having watched Rovers in action against AC Milan, they did very well so we know what to expect tonight.
“Losing John came a bit out of the blue and I wish John all the best with Wigan. It just goes to show that there’s always interest across the water for what goes on here.
“Tonight is a fantastic opportunity to remind those around us in the table that we’re still well in it for a place.”
The last game for opponents Shamrock Rovers was their European match against AC Milan, which they lost 2-0.
The Rover's manager Stephen Bradley told shamrockrovers.ie “It’s back to what will be a tough game for us, Waterford have been in good form and like you say it’s back to business. We have to make sure we’re focused and ready for a tough game. I think we are ready, it’s another game for us to get points on the board.”
The sides last met back in February when two goals early in the first half secured all three points for Rovers in the RSC.
WLR will have live coverage of the match from 6.50pm thanks to McConnell’s Toyota, Waterford with a commentary team of Ray Scott and Matt Keane
