This was a professional performance that saw Waterford FC open the scoring within 7 minutes when Shane Griffin latched on to a ball over the top from Niall O Keeffe and lobbed the advancing Dylan McNulty.
Roland Idowu doubled the Blues lead two minutes later when he fired past McNulty from just inside the penalty area and Waterford were three up inside thirteen minutes when Wassim Aouachria pounced on a loose back pass from Colm Deasy and fired past McNulty.
A clever free-kick routine between Shane Griffin and Phoenix Patterson provided Waterford’s fourth on 31 minutes as Patterson turned and fired into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
Darragh Power who was once again impressive at left back got the fifth when he headed home from close range on 78 minutes before Aouachria got his second of the day in injury time after good work from Killian Cantwell.
