Waterford FC 1
Wexford FC 3
Ray Scott reports
Waterford had the better of the first half with Shane Griffin crashing a long-range effort off the post and Phoenix Patterson forcing a superb diving save from Alex Moody just on the stroke of half time.
The Blues were caught napping five minutes into the second half as Wexford took a quick throw in to send Aaron Dobbs away – his shot was parried by Murphy into the path of Thomas Considine who slotted home from close range.
It got worse just 3 minutes later when the home side failed to clear a ball from the defence and in the scramble it was Aaron Dobbs who poked the ball home.
Another defensive error cost Waterford a third when Thomas Considine dispossessed Killian Cantwell and his inch perfect cross was headed home by Conor Barry.
Waterford did pull one back on 81 minutes when Griffin skipped through a number of players before firing past Moody but there was no further action as the Blues lost for the second week in a row on a scoreline of 3 goals to one.
They’ll be seeking an immediate response away to Cobh Ramblers next week.
