Waterford have received ten PwC All Star hurling nominations.
Déise attacker Stephen Bennett is shortlisted for Hurler of the Year alongside All Ireland final man of the match Gearoid Hegarty from Limerick and Clare talisman Tony Kelly. The Ballysaggart sharpshooter finished the season as championship top scorer with 1-54 including 1-10 in a man of the match display against Kilkenny. Tony Browne (1998), Dan Shanahan (2007) and Austin Gleeson (2016) are previous Waterford winners of this prize.
Stephen O’Keeffe, Shane McNulty, Conor Prunty, Calum Lyons, Tadhg De Burca, Jamie Barron, Austin Gleeson, Bennett, Dessie Hutchinson and Jack Fagan are all in contention for next month’s awards. McNulty, Prunty, Lyons, Bennett, Hutchinson and Fagan make the cut for the first time.
