After a heavy legged day of racing in the French mountains yesterday Sam Bennett looked a tired figure rolling over the line atop the Puy Mary.

The Quick Step rider had expended a lot from the gas tank to make it u the category one climbs that were presented to the riders across the stage - but today is a slightly easier affair.

Classed as a "flat" stage the peloton travels from Clermont to Lyon taking in one category two climb, followed by a category three tester.

A downhill descent will be a welcome sight to the riders legs having spent so much of the past two stages ascending.

Carrick-On-Suir's Bennett has maintained his 66 point differential on his closest rival - Slovakia's Peter Sagan.

Todays gentle finish will not last long in the memory however, as tomorrow will require dragging themselves up two major category one climbs with the Montée de la Selle de Fromentel as well as the Col de la Biche
