The Waterford footballers suffered a seven point loss to Leitrim at Fraher Field this afternoon in Division 4 (2-17 to 1-13).
Man of the match Keith Beirne kicked 12 points for Andy Moran's side (7 points from play). Darragh Corcoran got 1-6 for the Déise including a second half goal.
Eight points from Beirne left Leitrim 10-8 up at the break. The free scoring centre forward kicked beauties off left and right as the visitors led 8-2 after 25 minutes.
Waterford got six of the next seven points. Corcoran struck three, Dermot Ryan delivered two from play and Conor Murray was also on target.
The home side hit the front for the first time when Corcoran rattled the far corner of the net two minutes into the second half. Goals from Ryan O'Rourke and Darragh Rooney gave Leitrim their second victory of the campaign.
