Déise All Star Jamie Barron scored six points from play as Fourmilewater defeated Dungarvan 0-21 to 1-17 after a nail biting finish in Fraher Field last night.
Younger brother Tom got three points while Aaron Ryan drilled over nine on his senior debut.
Gavin Crotty goaled for Dungarvan on 33 minutes and Patrick Curran shot twelve points but their second half comeback came up short. Barron's sixth point of the night, in the seventh minute of injury time, sealed victory.
Eight points from Austin Gleeson gave fourteen man Mount Sion a 1-19 to 1-13 win over Clonea at Walsh Park.
The Monastery men survived a late scare as a Ciaran Power goal levelled the match with four minutes left. John Meaney’s side responded with points from Martin O’Neill, Stephen Roche and Evan McGrath before Roche found the far corner of the net in the fifth minute of injury time.
Six Gleeson singles, including a stunning effort from inside his own 45, left them 0-12 to 0-4 in front at half time. Sion defender Owen Whelan was sent off on a straight red card during the break for an off the ball incident.
