Thomas Barr will run in the 400m hurdles semi-finals at the European Athletics Championships on Monday.
The Ferrybank AC man clocked a season's best time of 49.31 seconds in Rome to qualify for tomorrow's semi-final.
Barr will be aiming to secure his place in the final and give himself a chance at another piece of silverware at the Championships having already secured a gold medal in Friday night's 4x400m mixed relay.
Speaking to RTE Sport, the Rio and Tokyo Olympian said his season had gotten off to a slow start, but it has now started to ramp up.
"It's like I'm on a peaks and troughs kind of a season here. It really ramped up in the relay on Friday. Today I just wanted to go out there and put myself in a qualifying position, which because there's no top two to qualify I had to win the race, especially when we're coming down in a blanket finish, you have no idea in the race what time you're going to run."
He's back out on the track from 11.40 am Irish time on Monday morning.
