2016 Hurler of the Year Austin Gleeson is the December winner of the WLR Granville Hotel GAA Award.
The Mount Sion attacker played a starring role as Waterford made it back to the All Ireland final.
Gleeson got four second-half points in the semi-final victory over Kilkenny and followed that up with five points in the All Ireland final loss to Limerick.
He said it was nice to get the award:
"It's been a tough few years I suppose with the way the results have gone as a team - so it was nice to get to the final, unfortunately, we couldn't get the result, we came up against a force in Limerick but we'll be back next year and hopefully we can go one step further."
The Déise attacker says Limerick are the team to beat again in the 2021 campaign:
"You can see the mentality they have, they are complete winners at the moment, it's going to take a right team to compete with them next year and get up to their level. They're the benchmark now."
He says Waterford can take away some learning points from the defeat by Limerick, but Austin feels Limerick will remain the team to beat in 2021.
