Waterford and Tipperary must do battle again in the All Ireland camogie championship after last night's match in The Ragg was abandoned due to a serious neck injury to Tipp forward Nicole Walsh.

An air ambulance was called to the venue and Cork referee Andrew Larkin told WLR Sport that he made the decision due to player safety. "In accordance with Rule 41.2, the game is suspended for fifteen minutes and after fifteen minutes, the game is called off. That's exactly what's happened."

The visitors were four points up (1-15 to 0-14) with eleven minutes left to play. Orla Hickey whipped in a second half goal while 2018 All Star Beth Carton hit eleven points (five from play).

Waterford boss Donal O'Rourke was disappointed that the game had to be called off. "The safety of the player is the most important thing. We were in the driving seat and we were starting to close out the game. They'll be ready for the next day. Fantastic performance out of the girls and we'll come again without a shadow of a doubt."

The game will be refixed for a later date.
