Abbeyside are through to their first County Senior Hurling final in ten years after a 0-14 to 0-13 win against De La Salle at Fraher Field last night.

Top scorer Mark Ferncombe struck the winner five minutes from time after the sides were level on nine occasions.

Manager Peter Queally was over the moon with the victory. He told WLR Sport that when "you win any county semi final by a point there's great excitement." He said they're "really looking forward to a county final" and that they're "glad they just got over the line" last night.

He said that it took a team effort to get the better of their Eastern opponents. "There was loads of key ingredients there." He described the Abbeyside backs as "absolutely superb".

It's a local derby affair in the County Senior Hurling Championship semi-final this afternoon.

Five in a row chasing Ballygunner take on their neighbours Passage in Walsh Park.

The Gunners who claimed their first four in a row last season, were pushed all the way by Roanmore in their recent Quarter-Final but came through by three points.

Passage arguably gave the most impressive display in their Quarter-Final as they hammered Dungarvan rattling in five goals in the process.
