Abbeyside are county under 21 hurling champions for the fifth time after a convincing 3-13 to 1-12 win against De La Salle at Fraher Field this afternoon.

Man of the match Michael Kiely struck 2-3 from play as the Villagers collected the Tony Mansfield cup.

First half goals from captain Conor Prunty and Kiely gave them a 2-7 to 0-7 lead at the break. Kiely's second goal of the afternoon on 42 minutes put the Westerners ten points to the good. Abbeyside keeper Aaron Beresford then saved a penalty from Thomas Douglas after Dylan Finn had a goal ruled out by referee Tommy O'Sullivan.

Kiely and Neil Montgomery added further points in the last quarter before Dylan Finn got a late consolation for De La Salle.
