Waterford FC will play hosts to the league's basement club Finn Harps this evening at the RSC in what's being billed as a vital game in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

It will be an interesting match for John Kavanagh, the defender who signed for the Blues last Monday.

He began the season playing with Finn Harps and he was on the Harps team which defeated Waterford 3-2 in Ballybofey earlier in the season.

Speaking to WLR Sport John said despite being bottom of the table his former club will be difficult opponents this evening; "Yeah it will, it's going to be a difficult game, every game they play they make difficult but look we're at home and I think we're gonna go all out to try and get the three points"

John says the Finn Harps team play to their strengths at home and they also do the same when they play away from Finn Park.

They came from behind last night to beat Brann 2-1 at Tallaght Stadium.

Rovers' 4-3 aggregate win sets up a tie with Apollon Limassol of Cyprus next week.

The Hoops are likely to face a fine from UEFA due to fans invading the pitch after O'Neill's goal.

Manager Stephen Bradley says the supporters got caught up in the moment.

Despite valiant efforts away from home, Cork City and St. Pat's both bowed out of the competition last night.

Cork won 2-1 away to Progres Niederkorn of Luxembourg, but lost the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

While Conor Clifford scored a rasping effort for Pat's, who lost 2-1 at Norrkoping (PR: Nore-shopping) and 4-1 on aggregate.

The Republic of Ireland need to beat the Czech Republic on Sunday to maintain hope of a semi final place at the Under-19 European Championships.

Tom Mohan's side lost by a late France goal to nil in Yerevan last night to leave them on 1-point from 2-games.
