Waterford FC ended the season in style with a comprehensive 4-1 win at home to Limerick in the RSC last night.

The Blues began well with the game's opening goal arriving in the third minute after John Martin was fouled causing referee Eoghan O'Shea to award a penalty.

Midfielder Dessie Hutchinson took the spot kick and sent the goalkeeper Jack Brady the wrong way.

Limerick equalised on 10 minutes when Colm Walsh-O'Loghlen's took a pass from Conor Ellis.

Minutes later Hutchinson delivered a free-kick into the box for Garry Comerford to nod home.

Waterford dominated the remainder of the first half without adding to their total.

And Waterford were on top again in the second half. They went 3-1 up on 63 minutes with Hutchison took a free kick 22 yards from goal and it took a deflection off a defender and gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Gavin Holohan who was only on the pitch for one minute crossed from the left to John Martin in the 70th minute who scored with a superb header.

It was an excellent display by Waterford who brought the curtain down on a successful season.
