New Waterford football boss Benji Whelan says that the league is his main focus for 2019.
The Déise open their Division 4 campaign at home to Wicklow and the former Nire manager wants to hit the ground running.
Benji, who was ratified as Tom McGlinchey's replacement at Monday night's Co. Board meeting says it's going to be a challenge but one he's looking forward too.
The Kilmacthomas native hopes to freshen up the panel next season. I'll be looking to broaden the horizons from the point of view of the playing staff and invite a few newer guys in with the hope that they will have the appetite for it. It's going to be a tough pre-season, there's no doubt about that. We're going to put in a lot of hard yards. It's going to require an awful lot of application from the guys. If we can focus in on early January and get ourselves right, with the help of Gerry Fitzpatrick and Joe Hagan, I think we can really do stuff, I'm very enthusiastic about it."
