Waterford's Thomas Barr returned home to a hero's welcome in his beloved Dunmore East yesterday evening.
Barr became the toast of Ireland when he became the first Irishman ever to win a sprint medal at the European Championships, which is a no mean feat considering these championships have been running since 1934.
The Ferrybank AC man ran the second fastest time of his career to take a brilliant bronze in the 400m hurdles final.
Thomas says getting that medal was an unbelievable feeling.
Thomas says it's great to reap the rewards after all the hard work.
Speaking to WLR Sport, Thomas says these are special moments he'll always cherish.
And you can hear the full Interview with Thomas Barr on tomorrow's "On the Ball" here on WLR from 12 Noon.
