Waterford seal spot in All-Ireland Camogie Championship Quarter-Final after nail biting win over Clare

Waterford have booked their place in the Quarter-Final stages of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship following a hard fought win over Clare in Cusack Park this afternoon.

Donal O' Rourke's charges made a blistering start racing into a 1-4 to 0-0 lead, with the goal coming from Beth Carton (who notched 1-9 in total) after receiving from Kiesha Tobin.

Clare began to find their feet and gradually hauled themselves back into contention with Chloe Morey their main threat.

Waterford held a 1-5 to 0-5 lead at the change of ends.

The second half was tight and tense as both sides gave it everything, Clare were reduced to fourteen players when Orlaith Duggan was dismissed on a straight red car for an off the ball incident.

They sides were level on three occasions in the second period as Waterford held a one point lead entering injury time.

Waterford had late scores from Beth Carton and the hard working Niamh Rockett as the Déise sealed a famous win, it finished Waterford 1-11 Clare 0-12 in Ennis.

Waterford midfielder Lorraine Bray was thrilled with the victory.

Lorraine says it was a tense battle, particularly that second half.

Speaking to Tomás McCarthy afterwards, Lorraine says they finished the game strongly.

Waterford will meet Tipperary in the All Ireland senior camogie quarter finals in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on August 4.
