Waterford hurling boss Liam Cahill says that it will be hard to leave players and backroom staff behind for the Munster final against Limerick.

Only 40 team members will be allowed in Semple Stadium on Sunday due to COVID-19 measures.

"It’s not a part of the job I enjoy, particularly now when numbers have been squeezed the way they have in relation to COVID. We’re confined to 40 people and that’s including two members of the county board as well. It’s difficult. It’s just a pity when everybody is putting in such work ethic into what we’re about that they can’t be there on the day. These are the times we’re in at the moment.”

He hopes that these restrictions will be loosened later in the season. “I’d like to think so as the championship progresses and hopefully we’ll still be in the championship to see that happen. You look at Semple Stadium, a 40,000 plus seater stadium with only 80 people, 40 from each side, and whatever else from a steward and media perspective. It seems a little bit harsh in my opinion. Those are the rules and that’s what you have to abide by. I would like to think that as the championship progresses and as things start to improve with COVID that those numbers could be increased.”
