Former Déise boss Michael Ryan was blown away by Tadhg De Burca's man of the match display against Cork in the Munster semi final.
"It was one of the greatest performances I ever saw by a Waterford hurler. People will quickly jump in and say that the standard of the opposition was poor. That wasn't Tadhg De Burca's fault. He was under every single ball. He read the game well, he was back behind his full back line at times, he took the ball out. When he was coming out of defence, if there wasn't an option, he carried it another ten or twenty or thirty yards. It was an absolutely fantastic performance."
Two-time All Star Jamie Barron was another top performer with three points from play. "Over the past year, people have said that Jamie wasn't at his best but he had a couple of injuries and that was holding him back. He was back to his brilliant best on Saturday. In my opinion, Jamie Barron is the best midfielder in the country because he gives so much to the team. Not alone is he available to take the ball off the backs, he is also good for two or three points. He makes things happen. He's elusive on the ball. He reminds me of a boxer, his footwork is so good. He has a brilliant sidestep."
