Waterford FC took a beating against league leaders Shamrock Rovers this evening at Tallaght Stadium.
Shamrock Rovers took the lead on 41 minutes when Aaron Green took advantage of poor defence by Waterford. Waterford then conceded two goals in two minutes just before half time: Jack Byrne put over a corner kick on 43 minutes and Roberto Lopez headed powerfully to the net.
Byrne sent over another corner kick two minutes later and this time Carrick born Lee Grace headed into the net. Jack Byrne made it 4 nil on 49 minutes when he made contact with a cross from Ronan Finn. Graham Burke scored Rovers fifth goal on 59 minutes following more poor defending.

Michael O'Connor scored a consolation goal for Waterford on 66 mins. Dean Williams wrapped up the scoring in the final minute with the Waterford defence once again caught out.
Waterford will be hoping for a better performance when they turn out at home for the match against Sligo Rovers at 5 o'clock on Saturday.
