The traditional New Year's Day meeting at Tramore Racecourse gets underway tomorrow.
The feature race is the Grade 3 Savills New Years Day Chase, won last year by subsequent Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo.
Trainer Willie Mullins says the eight year old is ready for his seasonal reappearance and hopes the soft ground will bring his stamina into play: "He's a big horse so I think it's quite important."
Tramore Racecourse manager Owen Byrne said it's set to be a fine way to start 2020. "It's still a holiday crowd, they're probably blowing the cobwebs off from the night before, and they come and enjoy themselves and get a bit of fresh air and get to see some of the best horses that are in training in Ireland or the UK, so we're very lucky to get to say that for our small track."
WLR will be broadcasting live from the racecourse, with a special edition of The Lunchbox with Geoff Harris taking place at the grounds.
