Ballygunner delivered a five star performance and began the defence of their Munster Club SHC title with a pillar to post victory over Sixmilebridge in Clare this afternoon (1-21 to 0-12).
The Waterford champions set out their stall from the first whistle and held a commanding 1-13 to 0-7 lead at half-time, with Dessie Hutchinson getting the goal following a brilliant solo run by Barry Coughlan.
Hutchinson also fired two in that opening period as Peter Hogan notched three from play, and Pauric Mahony fired over five frees (he ended with 0-10 in total, nine coming from placed balls).
Jamie Shanahan did get an early second half point for the home side, but the Gunners responded swiftly and continued to dominate in every sector and hit scores at ease.
Mahony continued to fire over scores from all angles, while Conor Power and Billy O' Keeffe also scored late on as Darragh O' Sullivan's side advanced to the last four.
