Rathgormack are still basking in glory after winning their first Co. Senior football title since 1999 last Sunday.
First-half goals from Paul Drohan and Willie Hahessy were crucial scores in a hard fought 2-6 to 1-6 win over Ballinacourty in Fraher Field.
Neither side scored in the final fifteen minutes as Ger Power's charges recorded a famous win, and they can look forward to a Munster Club Quarter-Final away to the Clare champions on November 10th.
Man of the match on Sunday was Willie Hahessy, who was thrilled to win a first senior medal following good success at under-age level; "Yeah I think after the Minor and U-21 success we knew it wasn't just going to happen the following year or the year after, the step up to senior is a huge jump, we're a young group of players and there's great commitment there, there's a mixer there as well with the older lads, the Ronan Cahill's, Jamie Kirwan's, John Kirwan's - it's a well blended team"
Rathgormack boss and former winning-player Ger Power was still in celebratory mode when he spoke to our Gavin Whelan as the celebrations were still in full-swing on Monday night:
Gavin also spoke to team captain, Michael Curry along with Conor Murray who said the achievements are still sinking in:
Rathgormack will now face into the Munster Club Championship on November 10th where they play away to the Clare champions, the Clare Final replay taking place this weekend between St. Joseph's and Kilmurry.
