Walsh Park will not be available for inter-county league and championship games before July 2023, the Waterford GAA County Board has confirmed.
In a statement issued yesterday evening (Monday), it was confirmed that phase one works have started on Walsh Park and will take six months to complete.
The County Board made the announcement following extensive discussions with the contractors.
Davy Fitzgerald's side were due to play Limerick and Clare at Walsh Park in the Munster Championship as well as Dublin, Antrim and Kilkenny in Division 1.
Waterford GAA are currently in negotiations with Croke Park and the Munster Council regarding alternative venues.
Waterford GAA County Board chairman Sean Michael O'Regan was in studio for Deise Today this morning (Tues) to discuss the situation.
He said they didn't know at the sod turning in December that the grounds were going to be out of action essentially until July.
