Tradesmen and women, Waterford businesses and volunteers from all walks of life have been involved in a special home renovation project in Waterford city over the past two weeks.

TV show 'DIY SOS - the Big Build Ireland' led by Baz Ashmawy and his team of Purple Shirts, was in town working on the home of Nurse Laura Sheridan and her family.

After recovering from Covid, Laura was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system. Furthermore, her beautiful five year old twin boys have autism and because of this, they have a range of complex sensory and emotional needs.

Laura's story inspired over 100 volunteers to give of their time and energy to help make the project happen.
