Dungarvan is now striving to become an Autism Friendly Town.
The announcement was made last night at a neurodiversity information evening staged at Lawlor's Hotel in the town, organised by Waterford Area Partnership in collaboration with Autism Support Dungarvan.
Speaking to WLR News, Chair of the Support Group, Faith Tutty, said: "We have signed and committed to a three year plan to make Dungarvan an Autism Friendly Town. This will be done with the support of AsIAm and we will be asking the community of Dungarvan to get on board in supporting us to do this."
Waterford City is already aiming to become Ireland's first Autism Friendly City.
Last night's event showcased supports and services available locally and featured guest speakers including well-known disability campaigner Cara Darmody.
