Gaeilge sa Ghalltacht ar WLR FM is a new series Recorded and edited by documentary maker RoseAnn Foley. It will feature ten individuals who talk about life, family, and their ongoing love of the Irish language. Interviewed by Catherine Foley the guests in this new series tell about their enduring connection with the language although living outside the Gaeltacht. They describe how they continue to use Irish in their daily lives. This series was produced by the An Corsaiceach company and funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
The series will showcase the wealth of Irish that is spoken in County Waterford outside the Gaeltacht area. The series sets out to examine the lives of Irish speakers in the general Waterford area. All ten individuals who live in places where English is the main language talk about their love of Irish. They describe where they learned Irish, how often they speak it, and if their love of the language is as strong as ever.
Part 1 listeners will enjoy hearing Áine Ní Fhiannusa talk about her career in banking, how she fell in love in Paris, and about her involvement with Mount Mellery Monastery.
