A  sleep therapist answers questions on shift work and more

Breege Leddy of The Insomnia Clinic returned to The Saturday Cafe to talk all things sleep with Maria. This time Breege put a particular focus on shift work, and how it can affect people's health. Shift work can also be very difficult psychologically as workers try to get some shut eye when the rest of the world seems to be wide awake!  Breege had plenty of advice for people in that position.

A series of events at Christchurch Cathedral Waterford

Maria also spoke to Ger Guiry on the show, who is organising the Sunday Series At Christ Church. These events are fundraisers for the cathedral.  Ger spoke to Maria about the upcoming programmes,  which include high-profile Waterford singers like Glenn Murphy and Vanessa Whelan.

The Spanish Flu and its similarities to Covid

Dr. Ida Milne, Lecturer in European History at Carlow College and author of  Stacking The Coffins : Influenza, War & Revolution in Ireland  1918 - 19 was a guest with Maria this week.
Her book was published in 2018 - before any of us knew what was in store for us with Covid!  It makes for a very interesting listen; Ida is  someone who has thoroughly researched the last Great Pandemic. Now, like the rest of us, she finds herself living through a modern  one which has  so many similarities.  Although there wasn't the media coverage in terms of TV & Radio,  the newspapers were the go-to source for information during the era of the Spanish Flu . There is also a Waterford connection in the book, which Ida discusses with Maria.

It was another great show, so why not grab a cuppa and have a listen to the podcast in the link above!
