The grief after the death of a beloved pet is a heartbreaking experience, and it's a sad reality that our furry friends don't live as long as humans.
To talk about the grief that comes with the death of your pet, and how their memories can be celebrated, Maria was joined on The Saturday Cafe by Eamonn Coady of Resting Pets Crematorium in Tramore, and Sinead Flynn Fogarty who recently lost her beloved Golden Retriever, Mac.
'Resting Pets' is a family-run business owned by the Coady family and was inspired by the death of their own beloved Great Dane dog, Mason, in 2020.
The facility, based in the Ballykinsella area, opened last year and is the sixth pet crematorium in Ireland. It's the only one in Waterford.
During the conversation, Eamonn floated the idea for a Pet Commemoration day, which could also have a fundraising element for an animal charity.
