Actress and playwright Katie Honan drops in to the Lunchbox for a chat.
It’s just a year since Katie and her director Luke Kernaghan visited us as they rehearsed her first play How To Fall Flat On Your Face.
It went on to attract capacity audiences at Garter Lane, and recently won ‘Best New Play’ and ‘Best Female Performance’ in the Waterford News and Star Green Room Awards. Later this year How To Fall Flat On Your Face opens at the Project Arts Centre, Dublin.
Katie and her team are currently back at Garter Lane working on her next stage play. Making new theatre in Waterford is important to Katie and she has surrounded herself with hometown talent.
Katie’s first radio play will be broadcast on RTE Radio 1 this coming Sunday night at 8.00 p.m. It’s called Hurl and has been described as a hurling love story set in Waterford. It won a P.J. O’Connor radio drama award. The cast includes Katie’s friend and Waterford actor Jamie Beamish.
She popped in for a chat with Geoff on the Lunchbox.
