There are only days to go until the Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards – and showtime!
The gala Waterford News & Star Green Room Awards ceremony, kindly supported by Waterford City and County Council and Liberty Blue Estate Agents, takes place in the Theatre Royal this Sunday, February 26, at 8pm, with a reception supported by Thin Gin kicking the fun off in the foyer from 7pm.
The event, hosted by Pat McEvoy, Waterford News & Star arts correspondent, and Dymphna Nugent, broadcaster with WLR FM, will feature a spectacular variety show involving the crème de la crème of Waterford talent, as well as in the foyer prior music by FallAway House, a fun installation from Spraoi and a photo exhibition of Waterford’s theatre scene of yesteryear.
Including over 150 nominations, more than 30 awards will be presented on the night, across a broad spectrum of categories, encompassing Waterford’s diverse arts, theatre and cultural scene. Highlights on the night will include the presenting of the Outstanding Theatrical/Artistic Event of the Year Award; the Lifetime Achievement Award; a bursary worth €1,000; and the People’s Choice Award. Voting remains open to the public for the Green Room People’s Choice Award until this Friday at 12 noon – the winner will be revealed on the night, alongside the winners from Waterford News & Star arts correspondent Pat McEvoy’s Green Room Award nominees, the adjudication panel’s Lifetime Achievement awardee and the recipient of the €1,000 Green Room Bursary.
