Parade Quay Retailers

A number of retailers on Parade Quay in Waterford City have been told by the council that they'll have to leave their premises by early 2023.  WLR's MaryAnn Vaughan went down to talk to three of the shop owners in question, for Deise Today. You can listen back on that report on last night's Hot Desk.

The council made the following statement:

From the outset, tenants of Parade Quay would have been made aware that the tenure was temporary and funding was being sought for the regeneration of the area.  As much notice as possible has been provided to the tenants in order for them to have adequate time to source a new property.  Waterford City and County Council has been engaging with some of the major city centre retail landlords to advise them these retailers will be looking for new premises.

Once the projects on Parade Quay are completed, Waterford City and County Council anticipates that it will be looking for suitable tenants to occupy the ground floor, so former tenants may be offered tenancies /leases at market rents.

Mary was joined in studio by Eugene Crehan, Director of Programmes for New Frontiers at SETU, and by Rachel Power of Power privacy.

The three discussed what New Frontiers is all about, and how people hoping to join the 2023 group can apply.

The Menopause Hub

She also spoke to Loretta Dignam, CEO and founder of The Menopause Hub.

She will be addressing the Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber in September in relation an online event about menopause in the workplace.
