The sun was shining yesterday for the visit of the Japanese Ambassador to Ireland, Ambassador Maruyama.
First on his stop were the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens in Tramore where the cherry blossoms were holding on to their blossom for his visit.
Following that, he was to attend the launch of the Japanese Film Festival in Waterford, as part of an eight location Irish tour.
Ambassador Maruyama told WLR News that it was one of the largest such festivals in the world.
The work which is continually undertaken in the gardens under the guiding hand of Head Gardener Richard Cowman was showcased in the Tramore sunshine.
Richard told WLR News of the future plans for the gardens this year.
Dymphna Nugent went out and about to speak with both the Ambassador and Richard Cowman, with the interview played this morning on the Big Breakfast Blaa.
