Listen back to Martina Flynn Shanahan on Showtime
Listen back to Martina Flynn Shanahan on Showtime.
Growing up as a Theatre Fan in Waterford from the mid 1980's to early 2000's you couldn't help but know the name "Martina Flynn"
From Golde to Ado Annie, Annie Oakley to Lady Thiang, Martina played them all. In the process of playing these parts there isn't a big show ballad she hasn't tackled. Something Wonderful, Lost in his Arms, Bali Hai, I'm just a Girl Who can't say no... the list is endless.
In her time Martina has picked up numerous awards and nominations. These came from the National AIMS association in the main. WIFLO was also a happy hunting ground for Martina.
Another avenue for Martina was the John Player Tops. She appeared in the famous national final of 1987 with Waterford Crystal. She appeared on RTE 1 on the June bank holiday Sunday at 8pm. Alongside her on TV that night were long standing friends Tobie Hickey and Pat McEvoy. Tobie and Pat played numerous parts opposite her during her time on stage in Waterford.
Martina also talked about the legendary Sylvia Walker. Sylvia was one of the most popular and talented rehearsal pianists and chorus mistresses of all time in Waterford.
In her time she has seen it all and done it all. So settle back and listen to Martina's choice of music and anecdotes with a cup of tea or coffee - it's well worth a listen.
