On this week's episode of Ours To Protect, Clodagh takes a look at the Waterford Food Bank.
Every household in Ireland is responsible for 117kgs of food waste per year. That’s between €400 and €1,000 per household, per year thrown into the bin. While one-third of the food produced is never eaten, even as 10% of the world's population faces hunger each day. Closer to home there are families in Waterford who would go hungry if it were not for the work of the Waterford Food Bank. Our reporter Clodagh Walsh spoke with Food Bank Administrator, Karen Glancy to find out more about their work and why in this day and age a food bank is still necessary.
