November 29th, 1998, was the last time Ballymacarbry played in an All-Ireland final.
They played Dublin's Portobello in Birr that day, winning 2.15 to 0.08, claiming their 10th title.
From 1989 to 1995, Michael Ryan's Ballymac won seven straight titles, having won their first in 1987 at the expense of Rochfortbridge.
Since then, the now 42 times consecutive Waterford Champions have dominated the county, offering no other team a sniff of what it feels like to hold county silverware.
While the Cork teams started to take over in Munster, Ballymac kept picking up Déise honours, finally making it back to the top of the heap in the province last year.
They backed up that Munster win over the Banner, beating the same opposition more comfortably in the 2023 edition.
25 years and 12 days later, Ballymacarbry are back in the decider. They face Kilkerrin Clonberne on Saturday in Croke Park where they will be hoping to deny the Galway Champions a third straight All-Ireland. Kilkerrin have beaten two of the current powerhouses of the game in the last two finals; Donagmore and Mourenabbey.
Former Ballymac and Waterford All-Ireland winner Aine Wall spoke to WLR Sport this week in advance of the decider on Saturday.
WLR will have commentary of the game on Saturday from 4.45 pm, thanks to George Corbett Skoda.
