Former Waterford manager Michael Ryan says that while Limerick are a formidable side, Waterford have all the tools to be the team that down the All-Ireland champions.

Waterford begin their Munster Championship campaign on Sunday, facing Limerick at Semple Stadium with a 2pm throw-in.

The Deise are looking to respond from an early championship exit last season, and have a tough task against the reigning league, Munster and All-Ireland champions.

"Limerick have no weaknesses", said Ryan. "Every good side will eventually lose out though - someone has to beat them eventually, and Waterford have as good a chance as anyone of being the side that does beat them. It's all about putting in a good performance on Sunday. This time last year, everyone was talking about Waterford being the second best team in the country."
