Following a loss to Limerick last Sunday, Waterford's intercounty hurling year has come to an end.

The defending champions are back in the Munster final where they will meet Clare in two weeks time.

Waterford meanwhile will have to wait until the new year to get back on the pitch when they play in the second tier of the league.

Former Déise captain Brian Flannery says the Championship campaign was impressive, but they left it too late.
